Christ’s Suffering Covers our Sins and Brings Us to God

I Peter 3:18-22, Ephesians 2:4-5, 2 Peter 2:4-5, Romans 6:4, Hebrews 10:12 and Matthew 28:18
Verse of the Week
18 “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.”
~ I Peter 3:18

1) Christ’s suffering covers our sins, brings us to God, and provides our salvation!

  • I Peter 3:18 – “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.  He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.”
  • Ephesians 2:4-5 – “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions — it is by grace you have been saved.”

2) After his death and resurrection Jesus proclaims the gospel to the imprisoned spirits!

  • I Peter 3: 19-20 – “After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits – to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built.”
  • 2 Peter 2:4-5 – “For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others…”

3) Just as Noah and his family were saved through the flood, we are saved through baptism by the resurrection of Jesus Christ!

  • I Peter 3:20-21 – “In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also — not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God.  It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ…”
  • Romans 6:4 – “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

4) Jesus has preceded us into heaven and sits at the right of the Father with all powers and authorities submitted to him!

  • I Peter 3:22 – “Who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand — with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.”
  • Hebrews 10:12 – “But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.”

~ I Pedro 3:18

1) El sufrimiento de Cristo cubre los pecados, nos lleva a Dios, provee nuestra salvacion!

  • I Pedro 3:18 – “Porque Cristo murió por los pecados una vez por todas, el justo por los injustos, a fin de llevarlos a ustedes a Dios.  Él sufrió la muerte en su cuerpo, pero el Espíritu hizo que volviera a la vida.”
  • Efesios 2:4-5 – “Pero Dios, que es rico en misericordia, por su gran amor por nosotros, nos dio vida con Cristo, aun cuando estábamos muertos en pecados.  ¡Por gracia ustedes han sido salvados!”

2) Despues de su muerte y resureccion, Jesus proclama el evangelio a espiritus prisioneros!

  • I Pedro 3:19-20 – “Y de ese modo fue y predicó a los espíritus encarcelados,  que en los tiempos antiguos, en los días de Noé, desobedecieron, cuando Dios esperaba con paciencia mientras se construía el arca.”
  • 2 Pedro 2:4-5 – “Dios no perdonó a los ángeles cuando pecaron, sino que los arrojó al abismo, poniéndolos en cadenas de oscuridad y reservándolos para el juicio.  Tampoco perdonó al mundo antiguo cuando mandó un diluvio sobre los impíos, aunque protegió a ocho personas, incluyendo a Noé, predicador de la justicia.”

3) Como Noe y su familia fueron salvos a traves del diluvio, somos salvos a traves del bautismo por la resurreccion de Jesucristo!

  • I Pedro 3:20-21 – “En ella solo pocas personas, ocho en total, se salvaron mediante el agua,  la cual simboliza el bautismo que ahora los salva también a ustedes.  El bautismo no consiste en la limpieza del cuerpo, sino en el compromiso de tener una buena conciencia delante de Dios.  Esta salvación es posible por la resurrección de Jesucristo…”
  • Romanos 6:4 – “Por tanto, mediante el bautismo fuimos sepultados con él en su muerte.  De modo que, así como Cristo resucitó por el glorioso poder del Padre, también nosotros andemos en una vida nueva.”

4) Jesus nos predece al cielo y se sienta a la derecha del Padre con todos los poderes y autoridades dadas a el!

  • I Pedro 3:22 – “Quien subió al cielo y tomó su lugar a la derecha de Dios y a quien están sometidos los ángeles, las autoridades y los poderes.”
  • Hebreos 10:12 – “Pero este sacerdote, después de ofrecer por los pecados un solo sacrificio para siempre, se sentó a la derecha de Dios.”
