2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
~ Romans 12:2

1) To survive and thrive we must learn to adapt!

  • Ecclesiastes 3:1 – “For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven.”
  • Philippians 4:11-13 – “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.  I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
  • I Corinthians 10:23-24 – “I have the right to do anything,” you say – but not everything is beneficial.  I have the right to do anything – but not everything is constructive.  No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.”
  • I Corinthians 10:31 – “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.  Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God – even as I try to please everyone in every way.  For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.”
  • I Corinthians 9:19 – “Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.”
  • I Corinthians 9:20 – “To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews.  To those under the law, I became like one under the law so as to win those under the law.”
  • I Corinthians 9:21 – “To those not having the law I became like one not having the law … so as to win those not having the law.”
  • I Corinthians 9:22 – “To the weak I became weak, to win the weak.  I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.”

2) To adapt we must become more like Christ!

  • Philippians 2:5-6 – “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;”
  • Philippians 2:7-8 – “Rather he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant. Being made in human likeness.  And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross.”
  • Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
