Our Identity In Christ: The Wedding of the Lamb – Part 1

Verse of the Week
20 “In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.’”
~ Luke 22:20
1) The Father selects the Bride for the Groom!
- Ephesians 1:3-5 – “Praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ…”
2) The Bride has to accept the offer for the wedding to proceed!
- Romans 10:9-10 - “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
- John 1:12 – “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
3) The Groom makes a covenant with the Bride and seals it with a cup of wine – ‘the cup of joy!’”
- Luke 22:20 – “In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.’”
4) The Groom promises not to drink from the cup again until they drink it together in his Father’s house!
- Luke 22:18 – “For I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
5) The Father pays the dowry to protect and provide for the bride. She was “bought at a price!”
- I Corinthians 6:20 – “You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
- I John 3:16 – “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.”
6) Then the Groom leaves to prepare a place for his Bride in his Father’s house!
- John 14:2-3 – “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
7) The Bride prepares for the wedding which includes making her precious wedding gown!”
- Revelation 19:7-8 – “Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear. (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.”)
8) The betrothal is for approximately a year – the time it takes for all the preparations to take place!
- During this time the Groom and Bride remain apart and are set apart for each other, they work diligently to honor their commitment to each other and they look forward to the day of their wedding, the day they are reunited.
- John 14:28-29 - “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ “I have told you now before it happens so that when it does happen you will believe.”
- Acts 1:11 – “‘Men of Galilee,’ they said, ‘why do you stand here looking into the sky? The same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.’”
- Revelation 22:17 – “The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who is thirsty come, and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.”

Nuestra Identidad en Cristo: La Boda del Cordero – Parte 1

20 “De la misma manera tomó la copa después de la cena, y dijo: Esta copa es el nuevo pacto en mi sangre, que es derramada por ustedes.
~ Lucas 22:20
1) El Padre selecciona a la Novia para el Novio!
- Efesios 1:3-5 – “Alabado sea Dios, Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que nos ha bendecido en las regiones celestiales con toda bendición espiritual en Cristo. Dios nos escogió en él antes de la creación del mundo, para que seamos santos y sin mancha delante de él. En amor nos predestinó para ser adoptados como hijos suyos por medio de Jesucristo…”
2) La Novia tiene que aceptar la oferta de la boda para proceder!
- Romanos 10:9-10 - “Que, si confiesas con tu boca que Jesús es el Señor y crees en tu corazón que Dios lo levantó de entre los muertos, serás salvo.”
- Juan 1:12 – “Mas a cuantos lo recibieron, a los que creen en su nombre, les dio el derecho de ser hijos de Dios.”
3) El Novio hace un pacto con la Novia y lo sella con una copa de vino – ‘la copa del gozo!’
- Lucas 22:20 – “De la misma manera tomó la copa después de la cena, y dijo: Esta copa es el nuevo pacto en mi sangre, que es derramada por ustedes.’”
4) El Novio promete no beber de la copa de nuevo hasta que puedan beber juntos en la casa de su Padre!
- Lucas 22:18 – “Les digo que no volveré a beber del fruto de la vid hasta que venga el reino de Dios.”
5) El Padre paga el dote para proteger y proveer para la novia. Ella fue “comprada a un precio!”
- I Corintios 6:20 – “Fueron comprados por un precio. Por tanto, honren con su cuerpo a Dios.”
- I Juan 3:16 – “En esto conocemos lo que es el amor: en que Jesucristo entregó su vida por nosotros.”
6) Entonces el Novio se va a preparar un lugar para su Novia en la casa de su Padre!
- Juan 14:2-3 – “En el hogar de mi Padre hay muchas viviendas; si no fuera así, ya se lo habría dicho a ustedes. Voy a prepararles un lugar. Y, si me voy y se lo preparo, vendré para llevármelos conmigo. Así ustedes estarán donde yo esté.”
7) La Novia se prepara para la boda la cual incluye hacer su vestido de bodas!
- Apocalipsis 19:7-8 – “¡Alegrémonos y regocijémonos y démosle gloria! Ya ha llegado el día de las bodas del Cordero. Su novia se ha preparado, y se le ha concedido vestirse de lino fino, limpio y resplandeciente. (El lino fino representa las acciones justas de los santos).”
8) El compromiso es aproximadamente por un año – el tiempo que toman los preparativos para estar listos!
- Durante este tiempo el Novio y Novia estan aparte uno del otro, trabajan diligente para honorar el compromiso mutuo y esperan su dia de bodas, el dia que seran reunidos.
- Juan 14:28-29 - “Ya me han oído decirles: “Me voy, pero vuelvo a ustedes." Si me amaran, se alegrarían de que voy al Padre, porque el Padre es más grande que yo.”
- Hechos 1:11 – “‘Galileos, ¿Qué hacen aquí mirando al cielo? Este mismo Jesús, que ha sido llevado de entre ustedes al cielo, vendrá otra vez de la misma manera que lo han visto irse.”
- Apocalipsis 22:17 – “El Espíritu y la novia dicen: ¡Ven!; y el que escuche diga: ¡Ven! El que tenga sed, venga; y el que quiera, tome gratuitamente del agua de la vida."
