Matthew 5:10-12
Verse of the Week
10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
~ Matthew 5:10

1) Matthew 5:10 – “Blessed are those who are PERSECUTED  because of righteousness for theirs is the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.”

  • 1 Peter 3:14 – “But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed.  ‘Do not fear their threats, do not be frightened.’”
  • 2 Timothy 3:12 – “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”
  • Revelation 2:10 – “Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer.  I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days.  Be faithful even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.”

2) Matthew 5:11 – “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.”

  •  Isaiah 53:3 – “He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.  Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised and we held him in low esteem.”
  • Acts 5:40-41 – “They called the apostles in and had them flogged.  Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.  The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.”
  • Acts 7:57-59 – “At this they covered their ears, and yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. … While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, ‘Lord Jesus, receive my spirit…’”

3) Matthew 5:12 – “Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

  • 2 Corinthians 4:17 – “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”
  • James 1:12 – “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
  • 1 Peter 4:13 – “But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.”
