Suffer for Doing Good
Pastor Jerry Ghirardo
Today’s Verses
I Peter 3:13-18, I Peter 2:19-21, Isaiah 41:10, I Timothy 4:1-2
Verse of the Week
17 “For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. 18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.”
~ 1 Peter 3:17-18

1) The Lord blesses us when we suffer for doing good!

  • I Peter 3:13-14 – “Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?  But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed.”
  • I Peter 2:19-21 - “For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God… But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.  To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps."

2) Don’t be afraid of the threats of others.  Instead have reverence for Christ as Lord!

  • I Peter 3:14-15 – “'Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.’  But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord.”
  • Isaiah 41:10 – “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

3) Always be prepared to explain why we have hope in Christ!

  • I Peter 3:15 – “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”
  • 2 Timothy 4:1-2 – “In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction.”

4) Be gentle and respectful of others who speak maliciously against us for standing with Christ!

  • I Peter 3:15-16 – “But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.”

5) If it’s God’s will, we can expect to suffer for doing good just like Christ did!

  • I Peter 3:17-18 – “For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.  For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.  He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.”

Sufrir por Hacer Bien
Pastor Jerry Ghirardo
Versos del Dia
I Pedro 3:13-18, I Pedro 2:19-21, Isaias 41:10, I Timoteo 4:1-2

  • 2 Timoteo 4:1-2 – “In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction.”

  • I Pedro 3:15-16 – “But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.”

  • I Pedro 3:17-18 – “For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.  For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.  He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.”
